JIPMER PG Counselling (January Session)
Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) Puducherry conducts counselling for admission to PG medical courses (MD/MS). On the basis of the performance in the Online JIPMER PG entrance exam, the shortlisted candidates should attend the Certificate Verification/Counselling as per the Schedule.
JIPMER will notify the rank wise schedule on its official website along with Venue details.

- Certificate showing the date of birth (Birth Certificate/SSLC mark List)
- MBBS Mark Statement
- Internship Completion Certificate
- Conduct Certificate obtained from the Institute last attended
- Transfer Certificate obtained from the Institute last studied
- Migration Certificate obtained from the University last attended
- MBBS Degree or Provisional Pass certificate
- Permanent/Provisional Medical Registration Certificate
- Residence certificate issued by Revenue Authority not below the rank of Tahsildar or AADHAR card or Voter ID or Passport copy
- In case of OBC/ SC/ ST, a Community Certificate,recently obtained from the competent authority – a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahsildar.
- Certificate from the Institute last studied, stating that the degree obtained by him / her from that Institute is recognized by Medical Council of India
- Service candidate should produce NOC / Relieving Order and a certificate granting study leave with or without pay as the case may be
- Proof of Registration as OCI (in case of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI))
- Medical Certificate in case of Orthopedic Physically Challenged candidates
- Passport size colour photo – 4 Nos
Counselling Process
First Round of Counselling
The first round of counselling will be tentatively conducted on 26th and 27th December 2019. Candidates who qualify in online JIPMER PG exam will be eligible to participate in the first round of counselling provided their biometric fingerprint, image and certificates are found in order. Candidates will be allowed to choose a discipline only after their biometric fingerprint, image and certificates are successfully verified.

Counselling Process
Second Round of Counselling
The second round of counselling will be tentatively conducted on 8 Jan 2020. Candidate who are present for the first counselling but does not opt/exercise option at his/her category rank are eligible to participate in the subsequent counselling. Candidates on roll in a particular discipline at JIPMER on the day of second round of counselling are permitted to register their attendance. However, they have to submit a permission letter from a respective Head of the Department for attending the counselling and Demand Draft of Rs. 25,000 drawn in favor of The Director, JIPMER, payable at Puducherry as per the switch over penalty. Such candidate would be treated as new admission and they have to pay academic fee, admission fee and learning resource fee afresh. Candidates who had opted for a PG medical seat in any other medical college may also attend JIPMER PG counselling provided they have to submit Retention Certificate, mentioning the certificates retained issued by the Dean or Principal of the said medical college with office seal. Self attested copy of certificates retained and a Demand Draft of Rs. 25,000 drawn in favor of The Director, JIPMER, payable at Puducherry to be produced at the time of registration. This DD would be returned to the candidate if he/she does not opt for a seat. If a candidate opts for a seat then the amount will be returned at the end of the course.

Candidate who is present for the first or second counselling but does not opt/exercise option at his/her category rank are eligible to participate in the third counselling. Final Round of Counselling
The final round of counselling will be tentatively conducted on 26 Feb 2020. Candidate with minimum of 50 percentile and above for Unreserved (UR) and Institute (INST) categories, 45 percentile for Unreserved (OPH) and 40 percentile for remaining categories (OBC/SC/ST-including OPH) are eligible to participate in the final round of counselling irrespective of their previous counselling attendance. Candidates on roll in a particular discipline at JIPMER on the day of final round of counselling are permitted to register their attendance. However, they have to submit a permission letter from a respective Head of the Department for attending the counselling and Demand Draft of Rs. 25,000 drawn in favor of The Director, JIPMER, payable at Puducherry as per the switch over penalty. Such candidate would be treated as new admission and they have to pay academic fee, admission fee and learning resource fee afresh.
