Only 45 Colleges to teach MBBS in English in China
Date: 15-Oct-2019With a record number of Indian students enrolling to study MBBS in China, the country’s education ministry has authorized only 45 medical universities from among over 200 to teach MBBS in English for foreign students.
Chinese Universities attracts foreign students especially from India and other Asian countries due to their affordable fees compared to institutions in the UK, US and Australia.
Currently, over 23000 Indian students are studying different courses in China. In all, around 5 lakh foreign students are currently studying in Chinese Universities.
Considering the increasing interest among Indian students about medical course in China, the Indian Embassy said that the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE) has approved only 45 medical colleges in China to teach MBBS in English to foreign students.
The Chinese MOE has clarified that the colleges, which are not in the list of approved 45 colleges, should not admit foreign students for MBBS course. According to Chinese MOE, teaching MBBS course under a Bilingual (English/Chinese) model is strictly forbidden. The list of medical universities will be regularly reviewed and updated in due course of time.
