The private medical college was established in the year 2006 in Davangere by Bapuji Educational Association. Courses offered by SS Institute of Medical Sciences
SS Institute of Medical Sciences conducts undergraduate program with MBBS. The duration of the course is 4.5 years with one year of compulsory rotating internship.

The post graduate courses offered are Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS). The duration of the degree course will be 3 years and that of the Diploma Course will be 2 years.

MD (Doctor of Medicine): Radio Diagnosis/Radiology, Tuberculosis & Respiratory Diseases/Pulmonary Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, Bio-Chemistry, Forensic Medicine/Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, General Medicine, Microbiology, Pediatrics, Pathology, Dermatology , Venereology & Leprosy, Pharmacology, Physiology and Social & Preventive Medicine/Community Medicine. 

MS (Master of Surgery): Orthopedics, ENT and General Surgery.

MD / MS: Anatomy, Ophthalmology and Obstetrics & Gynecology.

SSIMS Admission Process and Procedure
A Candidate seeking admission to first MBBS course:

Shall have passed two-year Pre University examination conducted by department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka State/ Boards/ Councils/ Intermediate examination established by State Governments/ Central Government and recognized as equivalent to two years pre university examination by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences/ Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidates shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually also.

The Selection of students to medical colleges shall be based on merit provided that, in case of admission on the basis of qualifying examination, a candidate for admission to MBBS course must have obtained not less than 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Category I, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination, be not less than 40% instead of 50% as above.

Age: The candidate should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st day December of the year of admission.

Duration of the Course:
Every student shall undergo a period of certified study extending over 4 ½ academic years from the date of commencement of his study for the subjects comprising the medical curriculum to the date of completion of the examination followed by one year compulsory rotating Internship. The 4 ½ year’s course has been divided into three phases.

  • Phase- I – 1 year, consisting of two terms of 6 months each.
  • Phase-II – 1 ½ years, consisting of three terms of 6 months each.
  • Phase-III- 3 ½ years, after Phase-I, consisting of 7 terms. It runs concurrently with phase II and during Phase II Para-clinical and clinical subjects will be taught concurrently. 

Infrastructure Facilities: 

Library: The library consists of 12,944 Books, 153 journals, 913 CD- ROMS and many other referral sources. It also houses flexible hours with a trained library staff that facilitates consistent amount of newly published information to the medical students. 

Hostel: Separate hostel accommodation facilities are provided to both girls and boys and it is inside the premises of the College campus. There are separate departments dedicated to pre-clinical, Para-clinical requirements and a Medical Education Unit.
