Tirumala Devaswom Medical College (TDMC) was established in the year 1963. Initially the “T.D. Medical College Trust” managed the medical college but due to financial crisis, the medical college was handed over to the Government of Kerala. The college became fourth Government-run medical college in Kerala State. The medical college is located in Vandanam, Alappuzha.
T.D. Medical College is one of the prominent government medical colleges in India. The medical college was established with an objective to provide best health care facilities to the people of Kerala by developing the Institute as a Centre of Excellence.
T.D. Medical College is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) Thrissur.
The medical college offers following courses:
Undergraduate course: MBBS course with an annual intake of 150.
Postgraduate medical courses: MD in Anesthesiology, Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy, Forensic Medicine, General Medicine, Pediatrics, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Psychiatry, Radio Diagnosis, Community Medicine, Transfusion Medicine, Anatomy, and MS in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology, ENT, General Surgery, Orthopedics.
Postgraduate diploma courses: Anesthesiology, Child Health, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Oto-Rhino-Laryngology.
Super-specialty courses: Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Urology/Genito-Urinary Surgery.
T.D. Medical College is attached to Medical College Hospital Alappuzha that provides clinical education and training to future health care professionals. The hospital has good number of patient inflow.
The medical college and hospital are location on a lush green campus, which is spread over an area about 162 acres of land. The campus has all the facilities like central library, well-equipped laboratories, lecture halls, auditorium, hostel, sports, etc. The medical college has qualified and experienced faculty who provide quality medical education at both UG and PG levels.
