JIPMER PG 2020 is a national level PG medical entrance exam conducted by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER). It is a gateway for admission to PG medical courses (MD/MS) offered by the institute. JIPMER PG entrance exam is held in two sessions-in the month of January and July.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking PG medical admission in JIPMER should fulfill the below given criteria:

  1. Candidate must be an Indian National or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)
  2. Candidate must possess MBBS degree recognized by MCI
  3. Candidate must have completed one year internship on or before 31 December 2019 (Candidates not completing the internship on or before 31 December 2019 need not apply for January 2020 session)
  4. Candidate must have obtained Minimum Qualifying Marks as follows:                                                                                                          i) 55% marks in aggregate for all other categories including OBC Category
    ii) 50% marks in aggregate for candidates belonging to SC/ST Category
    iii) For OPH candidates the minimum aggregate as provided in (i) and (ii) for the category to which the candidate belongs shall apply.
  5. In case of Foreign Nationals, candidates are required to route their JIPMER PG application through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi. All Foreign Nationals will have to take prior permission from MCI before applying for PG medical courses in JIPMER. An advance copy of the application and copy of request to MCI must be submitted at JIPMER Pondicherry before the last date of receipt of applications. In the events of selection, the candidate has to apply for temporary registration with MCI for the duration of PG medical study.

Application Procedure

Candidates desirous of appearing for JIPMER PG entrance examination are required to apply through on-line mode only. The steps involved in online application are as follows:

  1. Visit official website of JIPMER and navigate to the Application Link
  2. Create User ID and Password by submitting basic details like Name, Date of Birth, Contact Number and Email ID
  3. Login to your account and click on Go To Application on Top Right Corner
  4. Fill in Personal Details, Category Details, Qualification Details, Contact Details, ID Proof Details
  5. Upload Scanned Copies of Photograph and Signature
  6. Proceed for Payment
  7. Take a print out of the final submitted application form
 
Instructions for Uploading Photograph

  1. One recent passport size color photograph with light background is required
  2. Photograph must be taken on or after 01 July 2019
  3. Photograph must be taken with a placard being held by the candidate indicating name and date of taking photograph
  4. Candidate must save the softcopy of passport size photograph (30mm Width x 45mm Height) as “Candidate Photograph.jpg". The minimum size of photograph must be 20 KB and the maximum size limit is 200 KB

Instructions for Uploading Signature

  1. Candidate has to affix his/her signature in an area of 80mm Width X 35mm Height on paper with a black ball point pen
  2. Candidate must scan the paper and cut signature with dimensions of 80mm Width X 35mm Height and save it as “Candidate Signature.jpg”
  3. The minimum size of signature must be 20 KB and the maximum size limit is 200 KB

Foreign Nationals are required to fill in the prescribed online JIPMER PG application form with only one discipline of their choice. They should send their registration slip of online application through Diplomatic channel. They should appear in JIPMER PG exam along with other candidates. They are required to submit an “Advance Copy” at JIPMER before the last date of online registration. However, the application of all such candidates will be processed only after receipt of the same through Diplomatic Channel.

Candidates should carry only Hall Ticket/Admit Card along with valid Identity Proof in original (Aadhar/E-Aadhar with validated digital signature/Passport/Bank Passbook with photograph/Voter ID/Driving License/Any other valid Government identity Proof with photograph) and Photocopy of the same ID Proof inside the hall. In case if two or more candidates securing equal Percentile in JIPMER PG exam, then their inter se merit shall be determined in the following order:

  • Candidate who has less negative marks will be placed higher than that of the other candidate
  • If still the tie exist, candidate elder by age will be ranked higher
  • Candidate who has high aggregate mark will be placed higher than that of the other candidate
