About JSS Medical College:

JSS Medical College is located in the humongous 43 acre campus in Sri Shivarathreeshwara Nagara, Mysuru City. It is about 140 kilometers away from the Bangalore city. As a city, Bangalore is well known for its congenial climate, famed educational institutions and beautiful gardens. This is a Deemed to be University and Accredited “A” Grade by NAAC.

JSS Medical College was started in 1984, has been equipped with the sole objective of providing quality medical education. Modern teaching standards with highly experienced and qualified staffs, well equipped labs make this college a great place for learning medical science.

With the help of our dedicated, talented faculty and staff, Board of Management and others, we are confident Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara University will succeed and continue to be one of the model Universities in the nation and the world. Establishment Facts:

JSS University is focused on studies related to health and medical science. It comprises of the JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College and JSS College of Pharmacy in the main campus at Mysuru. Another pharmacy college is in Ootacamund, Tamil Nadu. 

At present more than 600 members of the faculty are instructing on an approximate 2000 students in the undergraduate as well as graduate students. Also, there are around 300 research scholars. A vast range of cultural as well as social, athletic activities is available for the students and the faculty. 

The JSS Medical Service Trust launched its 1200 bed hospital at Mysore as part of its social service commitments and has provided good medical services for the rural population in this region. In addition, this hospital is being used as a teaching hospital for students from the JSS Medical College.
 JSS Medical College:  Details for MBBS and Masters Degree 

The college offers MBBS courses at the undergraduate level, three different subjects at the doctorate level, MD, MS, as well as PG diploma at the postgraduate level. The MBBS course is offered for duration of five and a half years while all the postgraduate courses are offered for three years. 

Admission to the MBBS course is offered based on NEET scores of the candidates, whereas for the PG courses, marks obtained by the candidates in NEET PG are considered for inviting candidates for the counseling rounds. For the Ph.D. courses, the college conducts separate entrance test as well as an interview for evaluation of the candidates.

JSS College: PG Admissions/Course details

JSS Medical also offers MD, MS and Diploma degree at the PG level under various specializations in Medicine. A candidate applying for these courses must have completed the MBBS degree. Application process for the PG level courses start by the end of March and admission to all these courses are based on the performance of the candidates at NEET PG 2018 score. The minimum percentage of qualifying marks for the admission to Medical and Dental PG programs will be 50% for general and 40% for OBC, SC, ST.

PG Course Admission Process:

Selection of applicants for admission will be done on the basis of the rank lists which are prepared by the university through test scores and rank scored by the candidates in NEET PG 2018 entrance test and gets counseling chance as per merit rank.
  • 15% of total seats will be reserved for NRI/PIO/Foreign applicants
  • 5% of the seats will be reserved for Institutional preference

JSS Medical College also gives an opportunity for research in the field of medicine under three different specializations - Anatomy, Biochemistry and Microbiology. For admission to these courses, the candidates need to appear for an entrance test and candidates shortlisted on the basis of the entrance test are invited for interview at the college.

Key points to consider:

The MBBS candidates should have at least two years of teaching experience or should have published at least two research papers in reputed or peer reviewed journals in the pre-clinical or Para-clinical subjects, viz., Anatomy, Physiology, Bio-chemistry, Bio-physics, Bio-statistics, Bio-medical engineering., Bio-technology, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Hospital Administration and Medical genetics

In case of clinical subjects only those candidates possessing M.D, M.S., and D.M, M.h or any equivalent degree after M.B.B.S are eligible.

Student Counseling Centre - The important components of the said guidelines is that all universities/colleges should mandatorily put in place a broad based "Student Counseling System" for the effective redressed of problems and challenges faced by students.

Library and Information Centre - All the Constituent Colleges of our University have well stocked Libraries in Campus Premises catering to the knowledge requirements of both Students and Faculty.

Campus Facilities - The Campus has Internet browsing facilities at Digital Libraries, Meeting Rooms, Reception areas of the Hostels and other suitable locations to enable access the digitized Curricula. The Campus has a Bank Branch and an ATM to help in financial transactions needed.

Alumni Engagement - Currently Alumni Association has 6062 members. First alumni meeting was held on 26th April 2005, where it was decided to establish JSS Medical College Association. JSS Medical College Alumni Association was officially registered on 20th June 2013 under Karnataka Societies Registration Act.

Hostel Facilities - Students have exclusive hostels for Boys and Girls with spacious, comfortable, well-furnished rooms with all modern amenities, hygienic kitchens, nutritious food, and portable RO water source is provided for drinking. Round the clock security guards (Male & Female for respective hostels) as well as CCTV cameras are placed for continuous monitoring and vigilance for the safety of students. We have separate hostel facilities for Postgraduate students and residents outside the campus with good accommodation and catering facilities. Solar emergency source is utilized for heating and cooking purpose in the hostel.
