Government Medical College Kozhikode (GMC Kozhikode) also known as Calicut Medical College was established in the year 1957.

GMC Kozhikode is attached to Medical College Hospital, which serves as a teaching hospital for the students. The bed strength of the hospital is 3025. This makes it as the largest bedded hospital in the country. However the patient load is beyond the commissioned number of total beds. The college is also attached to Institute of Maternal and Child Health, Savithri Devi Saboo Memorial Cancer Institute, Institute of Chest Diseases.
Government Medical College Kozhikode is spread over 270 acres of land and is located about 8 km from the heart of Kozhikode city. The medical college has excellent infrastructure which includes central library, well-equipped laboratories, lecture halls, sports and recreation facilities. The medical college also provides accommodation facilities to the students.
