About Bangalore Medical College :

The Mysore Education Society started Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMC&RI) as a Private Medical College in 1955. In 1957, the medical college was handed over to the then Government of Mysore and was affiliated to University of Mysore. It was later handed over to the Government of Karnataka and was affiliated to the Bangalore University. After the formation of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) in Bangalore, the medical college has been affiliated to this University from 1997.

Courses Offered in Bangalore Medical College:
Bangalore Medical College, abbreviated as BMC Bangalore, offers medical courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 

Undergraduate Medical Course:
The undergraduate medical course offered in Bangalore Medical College is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The duration of this course is 4 ½ years followed by one-year internship. Every year, 250 students are admitted to MBBS course in this college.

MBBS Entrance Exam:
NEET UG is a common entrance exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to Medical courses in medical colleges in India. To secure MBBS admission in Bangalore Medical College, candidate should qualify in NEET UG entrance exam with required percentile as given below:

General Category: 50th Percentile
SC/ST/OBC Category: 40th Percentile
PwD Category: 45th Percentile

Postgraduate Medical Courses:
The postgraduate medical courses offered in BMC Bangalore are Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS). The duration of these courses is 3 years. These courses are offered in various specializations, namely:

Doctor of Medicine (MD): Physiology, Psychiatry, Pharmacology, Bio-Chemistry, Anatomy, Microbiology, Social & Preventive Medicine / Community Medicine, General Medicine, Paediatrics, Pathology, Radio Diagnosis/Radiology, Dermatology , Venereology & Leprosy, Anaesthesiology, Forensic Medicine/Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Radiotherapy/ Radiation Oncology, Tuberculosis & Respiratory Diseases / Pulmonary Medicine.  Every year, 346 students, in total, are admitted to these courses.

Master of Surgery (MS): General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, ENT and Ophthalmology.  Every year, 105 students, in total, are admitted to these courses.
 
Postgraduate Diploma Courses:
In addition to PG medical courses, Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute also offers postgraduate diploma course of 2 years duration in Radio-Diagnosis. Every year, six students are admitted to this course. 

Super-specialty courses:
Other courses offered in Bangalore Medical College include Super-specialty courses like Master of Chirurgiae (M.Ch.) in Plastic Surgery, Urology/Genito-Urinary Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Neuro Surgery and Surgical Gastroenterology/G.I. PG Medical Entrance Exam:
